minnesota christmas in july

I am not exactly sure why it took us so many years, but i am pretty confident that we will be celebrating Christmas with my family in Minnesota in the summer from now on. January in Minnesota is NOT for Californians! Everything about our July visit (except for the bird-sized mosquitoes) was superior. And the 20 degree "melissa effect" is much more pleasant in July (75 degrees instead of 95) than January (-20 degrees instead of 0).

Our first stop was in Richfield to see my aunt Kay and Rick. The zombie bar was closed (boo!), so we settled for drinks on the back deck overlooking the pond. Such a beautiful night to start our trip! We got to spend almost an entire day with my dear friend Tenley in St. Paul. We had a lovely walk around Minnehaha Falls and a great lunch at WA Frost.

Our next stop was Norwood-Young America to see Kieran's baseball game. This was the third game of the week, but they did great and won the game. Kieran even had two hits!

We finally made it to my mom's house on Lake Rachel and quickly checked off our "honey-do" list. THIS is why Christmas should always be in July...we went for boat rides, fished, swam, got dragged around in a tube, drove the 4-wheeler, had a campfire, and ate almost every meal outside.
