the great white expanse beyond the trees is a *very* frozen lake.
snow and freezing rain aside, we were in the great white north for my brother's wedding. i am certain matt and michele were not planning on a "winter" wedding when they set the date! the wedding was lovely, but as always time flew by much too quickly. congratulations, you two!

i love this photo because of the serendipity - i had not noticed the "new life" message on the altar sash as i took the photo, but it is so fitting
thirty six hours after the wedding festivities pete and i got on separate planes (of course) heading for very different locations. pete was off to cocodrie, louisiana, to board a ship that he is currently floating on somewhere in the gulf of mexico. i headed off to kamchatka, russia, for science. stay tuned...
